Dog-sitting charges?

Hiya
I've been asked to dog-sit for 2 weeks by a friend of one of my babysitting clients. She wants me to stay at her house and take care of her dogs at night (they go to dog day care during the day). I'd have to be at her house from 5:45pm to 8:45am but have the days free (2 hours from home though).
She said she's happy to pay me an hourly rate so I am happy to do the job
How much should I ask for? I normally charge $15 an hour for babysitting
Answers:
$20.00 per day if you are just feeding/looking after the dogs. If you are restricted from doing other things, I'd go up to $30.00 per day.

I think $15 per hour for SLEEPING at someone's house while the dogs are there is a little steep!!! $20 a night is more in the range!!!!

that depends if you have to drive or not...
i usually charge $20 a night to stay overnight at someones house but that fee gos up or down depending on how far i have to drive..

since you have to drive so far, maybe you should ask them to pay for your gas, and then come up with a reasonable amount for the dog sitting job.

5 dollars an hour, youll make 15 dollars a day and you are not asking too much

if you will be getting up and talking the dogs out during the night then charge like $5-$10 /hr plus a weekly gas fee.
if not, then charge per night- like $20-$25 plus maybe some weekly gas fee. (just add up how much gas you will consume in one week and double it- although that might be pushing it..)
although dogs are important, if they are older and in their own home then they won't be as hard as little kids so, don't charge them like as if they were babies.

As owner of kennels, as well as a pet sitting service, $15.00 per hour is REALLY HIGH! When I board pets my usual fee is $25.00 a day, when I pet sit, and go into the pets home, depending on the # of visits - 1 @$14.00, 2@$18.00, and 3@$24.00. I do not do overnight stay in peoples home. Since the owner is a friend, and you all ready babysit for her, you may want to ask for a flat nightly rate, then add a few extra $$$'s for traveling and gas. I would probably charge her $20.00 for the overnight stay, hopefully everyone will just sleep, then add an extra $5.00 for gas. it's a fair and competitive price, and the owner should be happy to pay you $25.00 nightly. Consider if she hired a professional, she would probably pay more.
