Well, now, some breeds of dogs (just like humans) seem to have a propensity toward home-made gas. It could be caused from many things.
You haven't said how old your dog is , so I will give a generic answer.
Firstly, as already suggested, it could be the food you are feeding. Has your veterinarian recommended a food that would address the gassiness? The lower priced foods have a reputation of producing a lot of stool and explosions of gas.
Do you feed the dog raw vegetables? The cruciferous veggies ( cabbage. cauliflower, broccoli, beans, etc.) are notorious for the foul gas they produce ( that happens to humans as well).
Are you making sure your dog has a LOT of exercise every day? The hunting breeds ( I have Labradors) are high energy dogs that NEED a lot of activity to keep them in condition ( the digestive system included). They will get sluggish if not exercised, and then develope the ailments that go with inactivity.
There is also a possibility that your dog might have a digestive disease. I have used the charcoal (black) cookies that you can get to sweeten a dog's breath and it has helped with the gas problem in specific dogs, but not all.
It would be useful to keep a diary of when your dog is gassy and what he ate that day. It would be useful ,(to your veterinarian), in formulating a diagnosis/treatment for your dog.
Good luck, hopefully you will be able to get some control over the "air pollution" !
Beats me, maybe someone should advise him on his grocery shopping??
you should give him an anti-acid or anti-gas for humans, but you should consider changing the food to a better brand royal canin or science diet from hills, because the food can be a factor in your doggie gas attacks!
give him rice in his food and maybe can help! but if it get worse then stop giving him rice.
Give him high fiber diet
my dog also had gas really bad and here's what i tried and it seemed to have worked. after eating give him a teaspoon of plain low fat yogert. i did it for two nights and it worked. i read that it has something to do with the bacteria in the intestines and the yogert counteracts it or something. All I know is it worked so I keep yogert on hand just in case.
