Dogs and noise?

my dog is very nervous of the least noise ,shes a 5year old lab and a very well behaved dog,but at the least noise shes a nervous wreck, someone told me to give her a asprin in with her meal daily ,is this true
Answers:
No this sounds like nonsense ! get a vets advice.
NO!
Confirm with your vet if asprin is good for her, because asprin is not good for children nor pregnant women, so I think its not a good idea.
She was probably scared half to death when a pup and still recalls that. You should bang anything near her to prove apoint to anyone. Console her and give her the reassurance that everything will be ok. I hope you havent given the dog asprin?
maybe get her use to unusally noises.
dont give her medication to calm her down.
i would not give a dog an asprin a day in the food. lost of reasureance to the dog is best. and try walking the dog where there are lots of people ...parks etc. maybe if your dog becomes used to some nose it may help
I have never heard of aspirin but I have had benedryl recommended to me which sometimes helps. If the noises that are scaring your dog are slight noises encountered everyday but are still frightening, you will want to speak to the vet to see if they recommend any course of action. However if your dog is simply responding like this to traffic, thunderstorms and the vacuum cleaner, than it's relatively normal and your best bet is to be as close by to him as you can be when this is going on.
I would check with a vet first before any meds are given, does'nt sound right to me. Labs can get spooked by noises, it is common, they usually grow out of it, they are "JUMPY" by nature. Nervous, full of energy.
do not give your dog an asprin. what have you ben doing to it? 1) touching Your dogs genatals too much may cause this. 2) Not touching your dogs genatals enough also may cause this.Give it a viagra to get it going
i have heard from a vet that asperins dont actually do anything to the dog so no dont bother putting an asperin in the meal as it would have no affect. but if you wish to i also heard that a dogs body is the same as ours and can take any sort of medicene hope i helped
better to ask a vet
NOOOO
Of course check with your vet b/c all of us answering your question are probably not vets.. but the few people here with me are saying that you could give it children's aspirin b/c it is a smaller dose and aspirin promotes better health in the human anatomy.
Well i would say no but go to your vet and see if she isnt ellergic to this or she doesnt like it
That isnt the labradors fault that she can make noise, dont you make noise?
Dont listen to friends or family unless there a vet or somethin like that :)
never give your dog aspirin ... never, it will thin the blood and can cause major problems even life threatining.
part of the reason is the fact that when a noise happens and she shows this reaction you probably react by going their their . pet her pat her. if you can try i know its hard but try.
when a noise happens totally ignore the noise you see you react at the sound now b4 she does sometimes . because you know the dog will be anxious. so you over compensate for that, have her treats in your pocket and when the noise happens show her your not bothered dont flinch dont notice cajole with treats after couple weeks of always doing this slow down on the treats and hopefully all will be well.good luck
Some of these answers are frightening me! Do NOT under any circumstances give your dog HUMAN medicines. ALWAYS consult your Vet first.
The answer to your problem is to put yourself out and get the dog used to town walking. It is called "Environmental training" and should have been done when your dog was a puppy so that it would take everything in it's stride. Do it gently and with common sense and it is not too late!
Good Luck to you Both
Asprin will definitely not help your dog's nervousness %26 should certainly not be given on a regular basis. There are a number of other products, including homeopathic ones which may be effective for her, but mostly you need to familiarise her (gradually) to the things that scare her. Many dogs of scared of sudden noises (but not usually Labs who are gundogs). First of all, don't reassure her when she is scared - that's rewarding her reaction. Just ignore her, hard though it may seem. There are also CDs you can buy - some called "sounds scary". They contain the sounds of thunder, fireworks, traffic etc %26 work by playing them very gradually at first, then increasing the volume so that the dog finally becomes used the sounds.

Why would anyone give an aspirin to a dog because it is scared of loud noises. If someone scared you would you take an aspirin? What would you take for a headache, cough mixture? Never give medication to a dog without veterinary advice.
Most dogs hearing is acute and too much noise is too much to bear.
