Ohhh.. great fun.. b*tch fights!! (not)
Those really are the worst.
You may want to try spaying them if they aren't already. Otherwise the best thing to do is to simply not allow the behavior... which means YOU are going to have to be able to see when its going to happen and then toss one or both of the offending parties into a crate.
Separate them. I don't allow aggressive behavior.. period. Right now my dogs are on a "bones only in crates" phase because my 2 adolescent males are being snarky at each other about them... I need an afternoon to sit down with both of them and teach the I won't allow it.. until then, I avoid the issue.
They will probably always feel that way although age may reduce the severity of their reaction to each other. Best keep them apart.
If they are not spayed, I'd try that. But no guarantee that will work either. In these situations, it's usually best to rehome one of them rather than having constant fights going on in the household. Training usually doesn't work well in situations where the two dogs were raised together from puppyhood and can't work out their pack order in adulthood.
In general, spayed female/neutered male combos work best.
act stern and go tsk. your the boss.
I say let them fight to determine pecking order that might be the problem. Most will say not to let them but I say let them unless one is being injured. My lab and Brittany go at it and they grew up together but they stop on their own and start playing again. I think most of the time they are just annoyed with the other. If they grew up together they should be seeing one another all the time. Unless you mean they are the same age and "sometimes" played together then it could be territorial thing. Also if they arent spayed maybe you should consider it.
They need some obedience training to get them used to being togather in a non-terriorial enviroment. Maybe they are both Alpha's, and just can't be togather. If they aren't spayed that may be factor.
I think you should be firm and definitely don't encourage either. Maybe let them fight it out for a while. It could be that one needs attention and is finding that attention when you try to break them up. Ignore them for a while.
Have them both spayed, see if that sorts it out. If not you have to take over as alpha position.
Don't let them fight it out, they've gotten into such a habit that they won't stop.
Go for obedience training and start small bits of alpha training with them.
