Get a dog adopted?

I work with a pet rescue organization and we are trying to get this dog adopted. He has had it pretty rough all his life but he is still an amazing dog. He is six years old and is a staffordshire terrier mix.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can get him adopted.
I have posted ads online, on pet adoption websites...
Is there anything or anywhere else I can do or go?
Please help he is an amazing dog who deserves a loving family.

Put a sign ON the dog that says " I need a good home! Please Adopt me!" and take him for a walk in the park. (Pick a busy park!) While the two of you walk around, greet people, hand out flyers about your pet rescue organization (so people know that you are legit) - I get this idea from the Greyhound rescue group in this area. They bring the dogs to the mall and tell people about the dogs and the breed. There is always a crowd around the dogs! I go to the mall for shoes and walk out wishing I could adopt a Greyhound! It's all in the marketing. Flyers at the local vet and pet store are also a good idea, you know those people are already pet owners and may be more receptive to a pet.
Good Luck -
Petco has pet adoptions - if you fill out the paperwork and speak to the store manager, they will probably let you set up outside some time and bring your foster dogs for people to see.
Good luck to you - hope this fellow finds a home soon.
I'm not sure what the budget is with your rescue org, but the one in my area has pet adoption days throughout the year. THey bring dogs and sometimes cats to public places where other things are going on. The animals almost ALWAYS get adopted soon after, and when people come in looking for the dogs they saw and those dogs are gone, they usually end up falling in love with another one!
We take retired greyhounds to pet expos %26 one of our local pet stores ( for adoption day). They get adopted a lot faster this way.
If he's so amazing why don't you adopt him?
Okay, he's six years old and a good breed of dog. Why was he put up for adoption in the first place? Does he need to be with just one person, a couple old or young, or someone with no children. Criteria needs to emphasized for this dog.
Basically, what are the pro's and con's of this amazing dog who's had a rough life?
work with him and teach him stuff..or post a pic and info on www.petfinder.com that is how i found my recently adopted dog!
If you go out to these public areas just be careful to whom you adopt the dog. If you work with a pet rescue organization, you should know the dangers involved and I hope you and the organization do follow-up visits to ensure the animals go to good, RESPONSIBLE homes. Those little guys have already been through enough. Don't put them through more horror.
Have you tried to see if the humane society could run an add in their building. Or maybe go to the local vets office and run an ad there. Petsmart also has a bulletin board that you can post pet adds there too. Those would be my guesses. And since it is a pit bull breed it might be hard cause for some reason a lot of people are scared of the breed and no absolutely nothing about them. Good luck
Try and find adoption events. When people meet a dog in person they get to see what you see. I also think people are still leary of getting a dog without meeting it, and they hate to visit shelters so adoption events can be a good alternative. Also the picture is everything. If you dont have a good picture they will pass him by. I think dogs photograph the best when you get down and take pic of them at their level. Good Luck, hope your guy gets his forever home soon! Also get people to cross post , I got a long time resident of our local shelter adopted and vet care for a very sick pup with some great cross posting by doglovers!
Try your local humane society, SPCA, Petco and or Petsmart they all have really positive statistics on adoption. Good luck...
See if your local pet stores will allow the resue organization to bring adoptable dogs into the store (in an "adoption fair" situation) to help people actually see the dog and interact with him (so they can see how great he is).
Post his photos and description in local veterinarian's offices and pet shops.
We get the most adoption "hits" from the following websites:
1-800-save-a-pet.com
nextdaypets.com
You can also post the dog on craigslist.org or livedeal.com.
