Golden Nursing Problem???

My golden gave birth 2 adn half weeks ago and the puppies
are all doing great.
There eyes are open and they are trying to dark adn walk, they are a delight but my question is about mommy dog!
I check all her nipples for milk daily to make sure they all are producing milk.
This morning I checked all of her **** and only 2 had milk coming out! and she has 5 on each side though!
Is this Normal?? LOVE FOR GOLDENGAL's ANSWER

Hi you called!
Ok this is normal for the age of the pups. You will need to monitor her but they are getting to the age almost where she will start to wean them. As long as she is eating really well and drinking lots of water than she will continue to produce enough milk for them as she wean them.
Now as long as her teats are not hot or red than she is fine. At almost 4 weeks old you can start to introduce puppy mush to them too. If you need my help with this just e-mail me or post another question ok.
Golden pups will grown pretty quickly from this point on so make sure you have them in a secure area ok. They do get curious.
LM can be correct also. If the pups are nursing through the night then they will appear empty in the moring too..
I miss this stage too. It is my very favorite :)
call the vet and ask them
As long as all the puppies are fat and healthy they are getting enough milk. In about a week you can start giving them soaked puppy kibble as well. Congrats on the new family. All the best;~)
A couple of questions right up front..Is it possible that the puppies emptied them over night they are getting bigger and drinking more..Second..Are the nipples hard and hot and tender to touch? (she doesn't want you to touch them)..If they are please call your vet and have your Golden checked out ...
If they are soft and pliable your fine and shouldn't worry..Just make sure you have plenty of water available to her and feeding her plenty and your being a good mom to mother golden.. I'm envious, we raised goldens for over 40 years and they are going into the teddy bear stage, which is bringing a smile to my face..
Double up on what Goldengal said!
Maybe the puppies aren't using them all.. Or are using those ones that appear to be empty... first.. How many puppies in the litter?
