Giardia and lime disease?

Answers:
It is recommended that you vaccinate against giardia for it is a zoonotic disease.
Lyme disease vaccine is recommended in certain areas. If you have ticks in your area and your dog has a good chance of getting any on him, which he probably does because ticks are everywhere, then he should be vaccinated. Giardia is common in animals who have access to standing water such as creeks, ponds, puddles, etc. If your dog is likely not exposed to water like this, then he probably doesn't need the giardia vaccine. Besides, giardia is easily treatable. Lyme disease is not.
Well do you take your dog somewhere that you are likely to be picking up ticks? Out in the woods, things like that?? If yeah then make sure you get the Lyme shot.. If you are boarding your dog, or having your dog around alot of other dogs often, then the Giardia is a good one to get.. Giardia is one that is harder to detect, severe diarrhea.. Dogs supposedly become immune to it as adults.. Wouldn't be bothered as long as they had a good immune system, but would continue to spread the disease... I would get them both . If you don't take your dog out much, don't bother with either.
you should only need these vaccinations if you are living in an area with a lot of ticks . I would consult your vet. If they are pressuring you into getting these vaccinations ask them why, they may just be trying to get money out of you. And $100 is WAY to much just for 2 vaccinations!
