Depends on the dog.
We have 2 beagles, one (female) takes fresh milk with no problems, the other (male) will have diarrhea if he takes in any fresh milk.
They both love milk, but reacts very different to it, so we let them have milk tablets or goat milk instead, and usually there are no problems.
i have my under wieght dog on milk she gets one cup at night she has never had a problem
edit and its cows milk
It will make them sick.
It will NOT make them sick! You can give them milk in moderation. I mix some milk in with my dogs food from time to time as a treat and they love it and have never had a negative reaction to it.
it's not the best thing to give to an animal, particularly when their system is not used to it. it can cause gastrointestinal upset, diarrhea.
water is the best source of hydration and dog food is healthier for them to eat than table food most of the time.
some vets might recommend other foods, for older dogs, etc. just go by their advice if you have questions
take care.
Milk that you put in your cereal - whole milk or milk from the grocery store for humans - can actually be bad for them. It can make them sick. However I don't go by the rules. (I give my JRT milk with his dog food at night.)
It is best not to give it to them. Most adult animals do not tolerate milk. Milk is made by mother solely for the purpose of feeding her young. But, if an animal grows up drinking it, their GI tract is accustomed to it and they may tolerate it better. Many adults do not tolerate it at all. These same principles also apply with people.
Is milk good for your dog...no, it is not. It holds no nutritional value for your dog at all. He does not need it.
we have been told that if the dog/puppies need milk, give it to them. May not be mother's milk but it will still work, upset tummy, coughing like that. We give our dog, 2 pits, rotweiller and 2 weiner dogs milk when they need it. Just don't give cold milk, warm just a little. But not all the time. Only if you feel they need milk.
Dogs like the taste of milk but it will give most dogs diarrhea.
I think this is a choice you will have to make for your self. Most dogs don't do well with cow's milk but some others do. I have never given my dogs milk and don't plan on it.
If you want to give it a shot than go for it but be prepared to deal with your choice. Most dogs will get the runs or throw up.
I personally have enough to do so cleaning up after a sick dog is not one I'd like to deal with.
yes because they drank it as puppies from a different place though
I have a pit bull terrier and it has a small amount of mi ilk each morning. He waits patiently till my fiance is done with his glass, and he always has to save him a little. It doesn't seem to hurt him any and he enjoys it so much. We did mention it to the Vet and he didn't tell us not too.
No, you should not feed dogs milk. They are unable to digest the lactose. If you feed your dog milk be prepared to clean up runny poop and vomit. Give it dog food only.
I am old enough to be your grandma (maybe), and I have fed dozens upon dozens of dogs milk right out of the cow. None of them have ever died from it. They like cream better, but in a pinch they will drink milk too.
But you shouldn't give baby puppies cow milk. They need mommy milk or goat milk if Mom can't feed them.
What?

  1. Dogs are just like humans when it comes to milk, they can be lactose intolerent just like us.Either they can handle it or they can't and you find that out after you give it to them.I have 4 dogs that drink alot of it.
