One of the hardest parts of English bulldog breeders face is breeding cycle timing. Even a vet. can not tell you the exact time to breed your bulldog. Even if they take a smear of your females discharge. The best they can do it tell you that the peak of the 鈥渉eat season is very close.
Optimal breeding is usually 10 to 14 days after you first notice clear discharge. This is tricky because you may not notice the discharge the first day it occurs. Its best to have the stud get together with the female a few times during that period. The female will only allow breeding when she is ready to breed. Don鈥檛 let an over aggressive male breed with your female if she does not want to .
Failed breeding should have no effect on future breeding unless the female has a miscarriage.
If you are overly concerned why not just wait for 6 month until the next breeding cycle.
No...her not getting pregnant will not lesson her chances of getting pregant at another heat cycle...
well, now it's four days ago. Waiting longer is reducing your options. It's a gamble at this point. Depends on if you want to risk the cost of insemination...
it's not going to affect the NEXT cycle at all...
i have to wonder though...it would seem you don't have a lot of info about breeding, and you missed the date...have you really researched breeding bulldogs? Have you checked out the cost of a C-section and stuff?
Are you familiar with the things you're going to have to do to help mama with her litter?
you might want to wait and just do some research before you try breeding...
